Title

A title, or one of the variant forms of it a record carries.

Title information relating to a resource: work title, preferred title, instance title, transcribed title, translated title, variant form of title, etc.

BIBFRAME's definition of bf:Title , labelled “Title entity”. The primer has a section on it.

Example

{
  "@type": [
    "Title"
  ],
  "mainTitle": [
    "A short history of Sanskrit literature"
  ]
}

Trimmed from a real record rather than written for the occasion, and checked against this definition by tests/test_examples.py. A wrong example is worse than none, because it is the first thing anyone copies.

Properties

PropertyTakesWhat BIBFRAME says it is
rdfs:labelTextdefined by RDF Schema
mainTitleTextTitle being addressed. Possible title component.
subtitleTextWord, character, or group of words and/or characters that contains the remainder of the title after the main title. Possible title component.
partNumberTextPart or section enumeration of a title. Possible title component.
partNameTextPart or section name of a title. Possible title component. (Part title)

Every property here holds an array, and a property this definition does not name is still checked: it must be an array too. Naming a property buys a check on what its values look like, and nothing else.

The schema

https://bibframe-json.org/schema/linked/Title.json is this definition on its own, and https://bibframe-json.org/schema/linked.json is the whole shape with every definition inlined. They are checked against each other over the conformance corpus, so either is safe to depend on.
